She Was His Zephyr

And He Called Her Gale

She Was His Zephyr

she rode the wind

like a 747

naturally winged

to soar through the sky

and he held on tight

never able to imagine

the life he would live

without her by his side

tangled together

in a storm of their making

twirling around

like a kite

off its string

dancing tornados

pirouetting and spinning

two lovers in flight

holding onto a dream

recklessly falling

intertwined in a tailspin

wailing and flashing

the lightning sprawled through the clouds

the thunder crashed and inside, their hearts rumbled

calling out to the ground

a restless rampage of souls

tirelessly dancing, beyond the profound

caught somewhere between

wild passion and wonder

like a machine, magnetically charged

in complete awe of the magic they were under

keep watch as the ocean excitedly swells

telling the stories only she tells

listen closely for the unmistakable wale

of this man and his lover, his zephyr named gale

Very nice, Kellie. I especially liked the lead-up and lines: "two lovers in flight holding onto a dream"

  • "Why, I's jus' a delightful li'l ole spring zephyr named Gale," she said coyly, batting her eyes behind her fan. "How could li'l ole me ever do such a thing?" Love the poem, Kelli!

Well-wrought! "But sweetest in the gale is heard..."
