She Outrun the Happiness Thief
It’s now her time to shine

The breeze whispers in her ear of the future to come,
Of the rainbow she’ll ride to happiness and joy,
Smothered within Mother Nature’s peaceful realm,
With a brook bubbling in the background for her to enjoy.
**
Her friends will be those that swim under the currents,
And feed on the sorrow of secrets past,
Hugs will be tickled from the sun that shines,
And the songs of the bird calls that forever blast.
**
The solo purr of pure love from her soft-footed feline,
Her call to the wild that causes her heart to swell,
Offering her the companionship of loyalty and grace,
Knowing she’ll never be betrayed as all is well.
**
The dark clouds that were hovering eventually dissipate,
Leaving a freshness in the air that she breathes deep,
And a coolness upon her skin that softens her temperament,
Allowing her to slip peacefully into a blissful sleep.
**
In the morning her tyres will crunch across red gravel,
Swiftly moving her on to her next place of rest,
A white sandy beach and a blazing sun,
And the full moon slowly rising as it passes the crest.
**
Tonight the wind is howling mournfully in tune,
And the waves are crashing on the sand in a spectacular meet and greet,
The moonlight dances over the dunes behind her,
While she quietly takes it all in from her sandy seat.
**
She has the best this world has to offer,
She’s waited patiently for the time, her need to be alone,
Wallowing in peace at last, a lifetime endeavour,
Peacefully going with the flow, the happiest she’d ever known.
**
She stretches her limbs in the crispness of the air,
And breathes through a sigh of perfect relief,
Her dues have been paid, the time is now right,
For here, alone, with Mother Nature — there’s no happiness thief!

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
