My Precious Heartbeat
The change within

The pitter patter of tiny feet,
Caused my heart to swell,
And made my life complete.
**
From that very first special meet and greet,
I fell under true love’s spell,
When you joined our familial heartbeat.
**
Motherhood become a two way street,
Of love and pride but the worry and fear rebel,
With the setting on constant repeat.
**
My overall life become more replete,
With every giggle you expel,
And your cheeky smile was ever so sweet.
**
My life before you was made obsolete,
Because you filled my life with unimaginable joy as well,
You were my gift, my happiness, my special treat.
**
I had no idea my life was so incomplete,
Until you arrived to change my world to excel,
When with a bang things became more upbeat,
And my destiny changed in a single heartbeat.

About the Creator
Colleen Millsteed
My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
