In the earth, it rest.
A capsule of life and love
Memories filled with her.
For years, unseen and hidden,
A record and witness to her life,
And all she had been.
Then one day, it found me.
I gently dug it out,
Stones and dirt, eager to uncover,
Riches and valuables she had stored,
The keepsakes of her ticker,
Safeguarded for years to come.
And I opened it up,
And felt her love surround me,
The warmth I’d forgotten, felt once more.
Photographs and letters,
Memories of her past,
Scattered before and around me.
It tugs the tears and laughter and smiles,
And I remember all she’d been,
And all our moments shared.
I hold in my heart my gratitude
For the love she left,
Stored in the time capsule.
So now I hold it dear,
A rich trove of memories,
Memories of her love,
And all she meant to me.
