Shared Air

A Poem

The sound of your breath

on the sharp inhale

in between twinkling words

rhythmically placed

starts to heighten

an awareness inside

I start to focus

on my own rapid breathing

how hot it is

leaving a condensed

desire on my lips

how I’ve started to gasp

as you take every breath in

to your spellbinding chest

Hands

grasping at my shirt

wringing it

as if it were dripping wet

muscles painfully tense

yet when I exhale

instead of relaxing

I forcibly expel the air

becoming nothing but a speck

elbows practically

coming to a pointing touch

shoulders slumping over

in a hunch

head to knees

ass to feet

compressing until

I am completely air free

With a start

springing into a frenzy

of oxygenation

a spiral of movement

with the hyperventilating chorus

I find the light

that had been fading

from my vision

swimming through the tension

I am exuding

I rise above my own

lyrical brooding

into the atmosphere

your laughter and gentle

lilting humming

spinning vibrations

like gossamer layers

I melt through

hitting one at a time

with a swirling stir

I luxuriate in

the silken air your

words prepare

as I write my

most passionate plea

Through muscle tension

iconic shaping and

infusing every motion

with unthinking emotional gravity

arching flicks

circular whips subtly

build up a spinning momentum

as I continue to rise

sudden abdominal contractions

start midair rotations

once the gyroscopic

action has been cemented

the fluid

mirrored

grandiose movements

have mystical meaning

beyond physical positions

My outward pleadings

matching the inner

workings of my heart

a mandala of faith and pain

sent into your orbit

a sand painting built

with sharpened fingernails

tossed up

into the zero gravity

glittering diamond dust

sticking to my

tears as they float by

Each a world of experience

carried in a coated droplet

ready to burst

telling my story

in slow motion

technicolor detail

I could never reveal

until finally I rest on your

warm bosom

nestled in

the cosmic beauty

of musicality
