Rose-gold glasses flip out/fold in, fashionably shading his sensitive eyes

Headphones atop a fro cancel chatter, laughing, traffic, all cacophony

Delicate jasmine incense; flower power over heavy fragrance, smokey puffs

Never chicken on the bone for him; chew this using plenty of Cajun spice

Grandma's crocheted afghan comforts all pangs; tiny holes as finger grips

...

This poem is dedicated to my 24-year-old autistic son Elijah. Sensory-friendly is how our household thrives and what this young man needs when out and about in the world.

Also an entry in the Sensational ll Challenge, but I sincerely hope all participants, creators and readers alike, consider the effects of sensory overload on others moving forward.

Thanks for reading, and remember to always be kind!
