Season's Change

Behold the beauty, mourn not for me

Season's Change

I take my leaving with a sigh

of frozen teardrops from the sky.

My petals fall with cold abound.

I leave my heartbeats on the ground.

I know my time has come to pass,

my fate set out on crinkled glass.

Crystal vapours embrace my stem,

the sign that I must sleep again.

But oh, dear love, don’t cry for me,

for this is how it’s meant to be.

Smile upon the season new,

appreciate its beauty too.

See the sunshine through the trees,

forging diamonds from dying leaves.

The morning sky shines brightest blue,

while pastels flood the melting dew.

Set your feet upon frozen grass

that crisps beneath each step you pass.

Sugared sprinkles dissolve on ground,

like coffee whitener stirred around.

Inhale deep, the fresh-chilled air,

as it surrounds and nibbles your ears.

Spell love’s name on frozen breath.

Mourn not my impending death,

for I have long since spread my seed,

protected neath this blanket you see.

The season’s change has now come due.

Behold the beauty in front of you.
