Seashells, White Feathers and Heart Shaped Stones

A temple

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 4 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

A heart-shaped piece of rose quartz sits

On my bedside table.

I pick it up and hold it

Every night before I slumber and

I say a prayer for you and us

I placed it on your chest

In the last transitioning moments of your life

Willing your energy to enter it

Praying your love would infuse it

Filling it with the light of you

There are also two white heron feathers laying there

They followed me to the car one afternoon

In the weeks after you lost your human form

While I was out walking, grieving and deeply missing you

Floating and dancing in the wind, they stuck to my black tights

Seeming to say,

“I’m here baby, I am still here”

And six little seashells surround these treasures

Picked up and brought home from our trips to the beach

Oh, you loved the water so much

You would run to the surf shouting,

“I need to get my chest wet!”

As you would dive and splash in the waves again and again

Surfacing with your face to the sun

I don’t know which shined brighter with joy

Your face, or the sun.

I loved watching you enjoying the gifts of Mother Nature

All these mementos that are so much more than

Sentimental trinkets of my soul

Lay next to me while I sleep

A statue of Mother Mary

Also sits there watching over them and me

A small temple to our love

They comfort me

Like you always knew how to do

With Love, Kindness and so much comfort

Seashells, White Feathers and Heart Shaped Stones
