Scent of

Woman

By Colleen WaltersPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Somewhere, beyond the birches, he’s waiting for her. It’s freezing out, but he doesn’t even notice his breath spiraling upwards in clouds of swirling heat. His nose feels frozen, but that’s not a concern right now. He’s wondering how he’s going to act calm when he sees her again. He replays a dozen scenes in his head, each one carefully orchestrated to make him not look as excited as he feels… but all bets are off when she walks into sight. His heart skips a beat when he sees what he’s already seen a thousand times before, and his breath quickens as he catches her scent on the chilly night air. And then he sees her. She’s beautiful in his eyes, and she sets his soul on fire every time she smiles. He feels her breath on his neck as she pulls his coat back and kisses his shoulder. Her hair smells lavish, as he nuzzles into it and gets lost in her.
