Sail Away
Beneath a silver moon I stand,
The tide is whispering my name.
The night is calm and full of stars,
And nothing here will stay the same.
I taste the wind across the bow,
I watch the harbor fall behind.
I close my eyes to all I knew,
And sail away to clear my mind.
A lantern glows against the sail,
A hopeful flame, soft, warm and bright.
It warms the dreams I locked away,
And guides me through the gentle night.
The ocean opens like a path,
A moving road of blue and gold.
It carries thoughts I never spoke,
And secrets I have never told.
I leave the weight of yesterday,
It fades like footprints in the sand.
The further that the shoreline shrinks,
The lighter I begin to stand.
No hurry now, no fear to breathe,
The waves become my lullaby.
They tell me I am not alone,
They sing as endless days go by.
The water holds a quiet truth,
A promise only sailors know.
That every ending finds a home,
Where brighter tides are free to flow.
So here I drift on open seas,
With rising hope and gentle sway.
My heart is free, my spirit clear,
At last I sail, I sail away.

Wonderful and I can hear Christopher Cross in my mind singing sailing
We will all sail away one day. What a beautiful poem.
Love how your piece holds that feeling, light on the surface through pictures you paint in words but behind it something heavy that remains unsaid. Someone who faced a lot and now leaves it all behind. It made my heart feel like spreading Its wings in silence. Applause.
