Scorched lumbar, supporting the base of dancing flames

Mocking my aspirations, as it’s anguish

Boils my blood,

And burns my face

I watch,

Stupefied as it shines with all its glory

Burning my mind,

As the wild flames flicker in the reflection of my eyes

Taunting me to come closer

With each step my eyes are fixated on it’s beauty

Snarls crack from the wood as it whips itself around tirelessly

Doubt polluting my mind through the black smoke

Perhaps my hesitation is a blessing,

Even though the end of my hair became fringed from the anguish within

My passion is just an extension of this blazing pit

Smoldering as embers drip from my lips,

Words wildly flicking off the tongue

And just as quick as the fire spreads,

So are rumors,

Infectious.

Love the fiery intensity in this one!! The insights you’ve woven in your words are so profound “Perhaps my hesitation is a blessing,” very true words indeed! Not many people realize the power in taking a step back and reflecting on your actions, especially in this fast spaced world we live in now. This is such a beautiful poem!!👏🏾
