Rude Awakenings

Exploding Head Syndrome

By Gerard DiLeoPublished 2 years ago Updated 2 years ago 1 min read
Handle with care

Last night my head exploded.

No one was hurt but me.

No wonder no one will sleep with me.

I'm dangerous.

***

Who keeps exploding my head?

They must know

How volatile are its contents.

Not much will set it off.

***

My head has always exploded at night,

Waking me up with a start—

Heart racing, sweating profusely, and

Feeling lucky to survive the blast.

***

Now it's exploding in the daytime

For no reason at all

Head mines—tripped by accidental thoughts

Expanding the perimeter of collateral damage.

Oh no, when the tangent becomes a suicide bomb. All too thoughtful, and trippy as hell.

  • Whoaaaa, I never knew such a thing existed! I learnt something new today! Awesome poem!
