Roses are
valentines,
battery low,
a white rabbit’s eyes,
message stuck in outbox,
a scraped knee,
printer out of ink,
break glass in case of emergency,
a warm cherry pie.
Violets are
glacier ice,
painter’s tape,
the forecast for a perfect beach day,
“berry all-star” sports drink,
a polyethylene tarp,
lightning.
Roses have thorns and violets have vines,
but we only see petals some of the time.
