Rose to Ash

Scorned Poem

By Adrianna BridgePublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Would I be so bold as to love you?

I wouldn't dare dream it--

Your eyes pierce me like the ice

that the sun forgets to touch.

Is it too much that I ponder a future

that seems nigh?

Your smile has shot me down as a hunter would

a bird that was soaring freely.

Pain comes in many forms.

So often it disguises itself as something endearing--

too sweet, to be irresistible

and then twists to turn the rose to ash.

Am I too shallow or arrogant

to relent my affections for you?

Forgive me for my crimes against you,

however you are the biggest thief of us.

Or are you too bold to notice?

heartbreak
