They don’t always tell you what it’s like to live in the country. They say it’s their ‘escape’.

From the hustle and bustle of the concrete coated lifestyle, this country abyss reels in the prim & proper with raw, mud filled sex appeal. Their one-day affair where the grass is ALWAYS greener on the other side. Your affinity with simplicity makes my heart churn like butter left to slowly melt like putty in your hands. Hot, steamy and ready for a forbidden last glance.

Don’t get me wrong, I love that I grew up in a little dainty area on the south coast of NSW. But it’s not all bells, whistles and birds chirping softly to ease you out of bed in the morning.

When you lose the ones you love in a place like this, the peacefulness turns eerie and the wind turns to a howl. You’ll have friends and family that hardly make the effort to pop in because of that EXTRA time out of their day that it takes to drive, not the 5-minute, round’ the corner commute. You become absent, detached and disconnected.

Country life is deeply romanticised to the point where it is untruthful.

Yes, our land is luscious. But when climate change is on the cards, the green valleys you see are misconstrued as healthy- they are growing in burrows of dry earth, in desperate need of rainfall.

Yes, the communities are strong and united. But when you know everyone and everyone knows you- you sometimes wish you were invisible.

My heart will always live in the country and be embedded within the people here but we all know you need to taste some forbidden fruit sometime.
