Romance In the Deep Blue Sea
2025 Sonnet of Shadows Challenge
Lantern into the dark of the night sky
Fire tries to overcome the darkness
Shadows celebrate the complicit sky
Darkness hides behind the fear of goodbye
Can you feel the stillness of the artless
Moonless sky of the darkness, you must flee
Slowly, the Sun rises over the sea
The murky water of the sea no more
Superpower of the light be restored
The creatures of the sea are in delight
The midnight sky has restored its bright light
There will be no more creatures with night fright
The lantern of the night restores its right
Peace over the land and the deep blue sea

Love the mystery here, beautifully written
Your words make the night feel mysterious and hopeful all at once. Love it!
Beautifully done, Mariann
and just like that day breaks and peace returns. Ah, lantern and shadow
Ooo this is deep. Love that the lantern light became fire. The complicit sky. Very revealing, sure does feel like nothing is happening and nothing will. I like the poetic jump from artless to moonless. Superpower of the light be restored. I love how in this sonnet, you took us on a journey from night to day. From darkness to hope. Absolutely loved that last line too. Peace over the land and the deep blue sea. Your compassion is not just for humanity, but the creatures down below. Fantastic work Mariann. Best of luck in the challenge 🤗❤️
