My darling,
I built our dreams with steadfast wood and brick
We had in our minds’ eye.
Furnished in gleaming wood, each room
with loving purpose.
Planning a home to hold our dreams and memories.
Beside the every-moving Trent.
Today my efforts keep the riverbank from slipping.
A local beaver visits, enjoying broken branches
on the bank.
I found a single Trillium hiding amongst the grasses.
Next to the stone path holding up the slope.
The boats pass by in quiet ripples,
having successfully navigated the locks.
I often wonder what adventures the river
will offer their travels.
As I sit on our back porch basking
in the dwindling daylight.
Smells of summer heat and jasmine
Catch the soft breeze that caress my hair.
As I contemplate our River House.
Our living breathing memories,
now and those to come.
Goodnight my love.
