What if I’m wrong,
and everyone else is right?
Religion, politics, morals,
Ethics, nature, space,
The sea, the earth, the sky
Time, and where it goes,
Life, and where it leads
Death, and what it means—
I attest
I may be wrong about it all.
But what if I’m wrong,
and no one else is right?
What would that mean?
Humankind, so developed
Yet unable to derive a singular truth
Of the universe at large,
Unable to answer the only
Questions that matter?
What if I’m right,
And everyone else is right?
What if it’s all true?
Can it be so?
A culmination of everything
We believe, strung into one
Gorgeously crafted abomination?
What if I’m right,
And everyone else is wrong,
And everything means nothing,
Because in my being right,
Nothing is everything?
Or is everything something?
Is nothing anything?
Is everything all of us,
Or is it so much more?
If I’m right,
I don’t want to be.
If I’m wrong,
I am afraid
and unenlightened
and human,
and I know nothing
and am nothing.
If I am Right,
I am God.
I am Science.
I am the Powers that Be.
If I am Wrong,
I am condemned
And alone
And myself
In solitude
With only the ties that bind
Me
To me.

I think you had a look into my mind because these are the kinda thoughta that go through it, lol. Loved your poem!
Heaps of thoughts. Love this! 💌
You certainly capture the dilemma that everyone faces at some point in their life.
It is an exceptional piece. Love it.👏👏
This was stunning, Angela. Have you been adventuring in my mind recently? lol. Jokes aside, yes to it all. It can be draining when we get in these circular thoughts. I agree to an extent with Emily. We need to find what feels best for us as individuals. That's why I think, people put too much stock in always being the most rightest! This is great work and love how each line was short enough that your thought-provoking ideas had space to breathe!
A solipsist's scary situation. Nicely done!
Society's judgemental, indeed. Thought-provoking, Angela.
I say just believe in what gives you peace. Nice poem ✨
