Still here

Poem

By Manuel C.Published about 5 hours ago 1 min read

Still here.

0-0-0

My cold feet touch the wood.

The ceiling fan has no mood.

You sleep against my arm.

Keeping all my thoughts really calm.

0-0-0

It was snowing when we met.

No, it was dry.

You had that ripped blue coat.

And I caught your beautiful blue eye.

0-0-0

The fan clicks crazily in the dark.

A rhythm in my pulsing red blood.

Love is not a magic spell.

It always survives in the dirty mud.

0-0-0

I almost told you that I love you.

Never mind.

0-0-0

The streetlamp paints the bare wall.

Gold dust freezes in the air.

Everything stops.

I trace your tangled hair.

0-0-0

You shift and pull me close.

The fan still clicks overhead.

We survived another heavy year.

I watch you lying in the bed.

0-0-0

Still here.

I close my eyes.

Maybe you know.

I love you, no lies.

Love is beautiful in every way. Even when people part that bond they share is something.
