My writing group rhymes on the 8th of every month. I am posting a few for you to view, along with some responses on September ninth.

From Carol:

Good morning to all

A big Welcome to Fall.

September is here

and Winter is near.

That’s not a great thought

Although you can like it or not.

But today we must rhyme

It’s always a good time.

So start your day off with a grin

Even before you begin.

And rhyme along with the group

Don’t be a big 💩.

(🤷🏻‍♀️sorry, I was struggling to come to an end)

My response:

Thank you Boo for starting us out today! Off to the Mississippi River on this fine Sunday.❤️

JoAnn's response:

Another rhyme

Just in time

Enjoy your day

That’s what I say

JenLee posted along with her poem below

By JenLee 9-8-24, Poem a Month Challenge 2024

~Trust~

Spirits have been surrounding me twirling about…

Shadow’s in mirrors leaving reality to doubt…

The light filters through and all is momentarily revealed~

Things we thought weren’t possible secretly concealed~

They whisper in the wind a long screeching howl…

For a moment you fear it is a monstrous harpy owl…🦉

Then the path gets even darker yet down the trail you travel~

The memories in the mind start to twist and unravel~~~

The sound of silence broken in one night,

Peace around the bend just outa sight….

We keep traveling the tracks even through the dark 👣

I’ve learned when to bite, hunt, an when to bark…

Things will be just as they should~

No wavering thoughts of what could….

Response from JoAnn:

I feel the mood of this poem

Somehow, it brings me home

To our farm home as a child

When I was meek and mild

Life swirling around the little girl

Leaving her all a-twirl

Fibonacci response from me:

Great

Mate

First rate

Time to skate

I am almost late

For a very important date❤️

From Me:

Oh

Boy

What joy

Rhyming no?

It's nonsense today?

No you all not on this Sunday

(Fibonacci - syllables 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8)

Authors note:

Come throw a rhyme or two will you?

No need for poetry format unless you want!

Give it a try, you have nothing to lose Boo!

Then just go for a little jaunt!❤️

Carol's response:

What?

Now?

Oh Dear!

Have no fear.

It is so much fun.

It’s just like playing in the sun!

JoAnn's response:

I’m so glad we do the poetry

As inside ourselves, we see

What’s going on within our heart

And how much of it is our part

Cheryl's response:

The fall is upon us

Daylight is shorter

Animals are moving around

As ole man winter is making his rounds.

He'll soon drop a blanket of snow on the ground!

Summer was swift to show

As ole man winter had trouble letting go.

It seems spring was short and summer stuck around.

The trees are now changing, as the wind begins to blow.

The leaves of Fall will soon be our show.

JoAnn's response to Cheryl:

I like the way you wrote this poem

When it’s cold I must stay home

I’m so not ready to freeze my butt

Winter is a long cold slippery rut

I’ll enjoy our beautiful fall for today

And pretend winter will stay away
