Lying awake under a blanket of secrets,
Insistent thoughts blaring silent alarms.
Arguments with gullible parts of myself,
Repeating lines from your Homerian epic.

Cylinders of sunlight pierce the gray prison,
Heavy with dust that shift like your words,
Embers of truth buried beneath layered lies.
Ardent yellow beams lie gently on your lips,
Treacherous poison coated thickly in honey,
Elucidating clouded pools disguised as springs,
Reveal yesterday’s promises, drowned
