RETENTION

In the shadows of education's halls,

Lies a plight that silently befalls.

Black minorities, with dreams so grand,

Yet hindered by a retention's demand.

In classrooms where knowledge flows,

They struggle against unseen foes.

For retention's grasp, it holds them tight,

As they strive to keep their dreams in sight.

In the sea of lessons, their minds may stray,

Lost amidst the currents, day by day.

Yet within their hearts, a fire burns,

A passion for learning, it yearns.

With determination, they persevere,

Facing challenges, without fear.

Though retention's grip may seem unkind,

Their resilience and strength, they'll find.

For in the struggle lies the power to grow,

To rise above, to let knowledge flow.

With support and guidance, they'll soar high,

Breaking barriers, reaching for the sky.

So let us stand with them, hand in hand,

Supporting their journey, across the land.
