When you start to say a word
Over and over again
The word doesn't sound right
And it changes--
Maybe the only thing
that makes words bearable
Is their constant change.
Do you remember driving a car for the first time?
So many places to go.
You made a new friend in college-
She is from Ohio and she is so funny.
All of the sudden your life happens,
As life always seems to do.
You are a little bit happy,
Which is all any of us can ever be.
You sit thinking, as alone and old as you have ever been,
And you began to say the same word over and over again
And you wake up because your dad says it's time for school
And you wake up the next day too because your dad says it's time for school
You see your mother on your old brown couch
It is 7 in the morning, just like it always is
And you say good morning
And then the next day you say good morning
Your mother looks up from her coffee
And loves you.
You wake up everyday,
And she loves you
You think to yourself that
Repeating words
Are not so unbearable
Until they stop repeating
