Repeated Runner Up Offender
Am I Too Weird or Just Weird Enough? Casual Poem
I run run run up to the winners post
perhaps observing from my runner up space
because I just didn't hit the pace for 1st place
or second or third or that weird limbo list
or most liked.. you get the jist..
so I remain open
as I soak in
the winner's secrets
..that aren't secrets
with quotes found on top of Pinterest
where are the alliterations, the personifications?
the sanity questioning visuals tickling my imagination?
I'm not against a niche
but I'd rather be unique
than to water what I speak
"blood runs cold"...oh, bold
every line has been told
your version of "going deep"
I could google in my sleep
maybe it's me
because I just don't agree
with these social norms
that have been formed
along the line that you fell into
and I'm sure you're just so charmed
as I rant on and on
about the timing of our foods
but seriously, who made these rules?
(like why is it perceptible to eat donuts in the morning but cake is unacceptable, chicken is reserved for dinner but selectable for breakfast only and I mean only with waffles- yet cereal in the morning is respectable even though a bowl of sugar should be a delectable delectable dessert?! Not to mention, taking candy from strangers is the worst unless it's October 31st then it's ok.. this is my brain all day. Anyways..)
I don't mind
these rules being abided by
what I mind is never asking why
are you you or a modeled you?
living life on auto tune?
beliefs an heirloom passed from other realities
fragile. dusty. altered by generational fallacies
not born from malice or malady
yet not transformed by individuality
now worn as a whole, as a non-negotiable, as an identity
As for me, I side with intellectuality
Be.
be a reflector. a dreamer. an innovator.
a debator. a cycle breaker. for You Are Your Creator.
