Waiting to call her
Can be put off if you're sure
Pain is bearable.
~
Time, once lost, is gone.
Those words will remain unsaid
Ears won't hear once dead.
~
Was it worth it, then?
Who learned what in the silence?
I should have called you.
~
I don't believe she ever saw this confession, pasted below.
Perhaps this would have changed if I could have made myself tell her the last lines:
"I've been afraid to tell you: I miss you. I miss who I thought you were to me. I miss who I thought I was to you."
So now, I will always miss her.

You packed a powerful punch with such brevity—this hit me hard. I hope writing it helped you lighten what surely must be a heavy thing to carry. Thank you for sharing this message with us, so that we may use it before it’s too late.
I like the structure implemented here and the themes are very much relatable, but I am so sorry to hear Judey.
Sorry to hear this, sending hugs Judey
The danger of playing games, of fear, of waiting too long ❤️
Unrequited loss is so hard to describe and to endure. This is such a bittersweet poem. I'll be keeping you in my heart and prayers ❤️
I have this sense, not with my mother, but with a classmate who committed suicide. Beautifully, painfully & sensitively rendered.
Oh my. This is beautiful, Judey. Yet so sad. So sorry for your loss.
"Time, once lost, is gone." Truer words were never spoken. So many times I've started writing about that, and haven't completed one yet. Well done!
This was very touching Judey. Well done
Man this is good
Heart touching!!! Yet beautiful!!! ❤️❤️💕
wow, definitely makes you think
I love how you linked your confession piece that I am assuming this is based on with these haikus. It helped to give me an understanding of the meaning behind the haikus. These haikus tug at my heartstrings. Great job, Judey!
Oooof. This hits hard. Phenomenal work
