After The Parade

Hurry and grow, the world awaits you

Younger Me thought I could change the world

The rose colored glasses now foggy

Finding a way through the darkness

My path no longer defined by childhood goals

Now deemed unattainable by today's standards

Life knocked me down and showed me who's boss multiple times

No matter how many times I stumble and fall

Still determined to rise from the ruins that tried to ruin me

It seems things are spiralling out of control

A battle between good and evil

And it looks like evil is winning

Learned to keep my head on a swivel

And never let the darkness destroy you

Time wasted on optimism

As the world forces you to be pessimistic and hateful

Big dreams turned into life failures

But many lessons learned along the way

No longer try to understand why

Or control the narrative

Just let life take the reins as I try to swim without a float

Hopefully I don't drown or wash away just trying to survive

And find my place in this Jumbled Life

Transport me to better days

And though it looks dreary, you have to see the good

And keep going

No matter how cold and cruel the world gets

I won't let it harden me

I'll remain hopeful with a good heart

The evilness of the world can't strip me of that

And I won't let it
