Red

For Ellie Hoovs' Wonderland Challenge - Day 3

A string of

Red lights

Dot the streets,

So many

I've worked

To change myself.

My own words

My own mind

My own psyche,

A smooth manipulator

A sly persuader

A savvy saboteur.

Flipping the switch

To punctuate

Blatant warnings,

The risks

-Criticism-

The hazards

-Rejection-

The doubts.

-Fear-

All flashing

Brightly

Holding me hostage,

A prisoner

Bound

By unseen shackles.

Until

A realization

A liberating thought:

Red

Can spell

Danger,

But it

Can also spell

Determination.

Love the almost personification of the color into this entity that holds you back from things - and then the flip at the end. lovely!
