hindsight and all that

I remember the way your hair fell into your eyes as you hovered above me

I remember the scent of your shirt, soaked in sweat as it clung to your body

The way your hands explored mine

And how your heart raced inside your ribcage

Our hearts beating in perfect time

Do you remember the way I looked at you with stars in my eyes?

Or when you sent me home after asking me to spend the night?

I guess you thought twice

I remember it all from the beginning to the fall of it

I think back on everything we did, everything we shared

I remembered what it was that I wanted

And I remember the crushing feeling in the pit of my stomach when I realized it was all one-sided
