Ingredients:
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup warm water (or as needed)
Oil for frying
Instructions:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and salt.
Gradually add warm water to the flour mixture, mixing with your hands until you form a smooth and pliable dough. Knead the dough for a few minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 20-30 minutes.
After the dough has rested, divide it into small lemon-sized balls. Roll each ball out into a flat disc, about 4-5 inches in diameter.
Heat the oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat.
Once the oil is hot, gently slide the rolled out dough into the oil, being careful not to splash hot oil. Fry for about 30-40 seconds on each side, or until golden brown and puffed up.
Using a slotted spoon, remove the puri from the oil and place it on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
Serve the hot puris with your favorite Indian curry or chutney.
Enjoy your homemade puris!
