Reason To Smile

Yellow

By Caileigh GrahamPublished 5 years ago 1 min read
you can't just be happy, you have to choose to be.

Colours do not have emotions.

Red is not angry,

Purple is not luxurious,

and Blue is not calm.

Despite what others may say,

or how we have decided to label colours,

Orange is not energetic,

Green is not wealthy,

White is not innocent,

and Yellow is not happy.

Yellow is my colour.

My saviour.

Not because it is happy,

but because it is not.

Rather than look at Yellow as the sun,

or as a smile,

I look at it as a reason to face the sun,

and a reason to smile.

Yellow is not a colour you turn to when you are happy,

it is a colour you turn to when you need to be.

When you are sad,

stuck,

lost,

confused,

alone,

then you turn to yellow.

Yellow will brighten up the darkness.

It will bring a smile to your face when you need it most.

It will remind you that there is a reason to smile,

not just represent a smile itself.

Yellow is not my happy colour,

it is my motivation-to-be-happy colour.
