Sonnet of Summertime

The day was long, the sun, so hot, so bright

She squints, she left her hat at home this time

Soon the sun would release its vicious hold

She opens her book, the glaring white page

The straps of her suit digs into her skin

The lake is glass, no other boats for miles

Trees are softly hanging over the cove

Reflecting on the glass surface, doubling

The boat bobs softly with gentle movement

Birds speak in song in the branches above

Crickets in the tall grass play instruments

She, in her glorious reality

Enjoys the clever world within the page

Paradise in nature, summertime joys

nature poetry
