rare sea horn light

a poem

I listened to the swish of the wind –

song through the toughest times

it had no words

just buzzing and bulging of the unsteady

at times like this, I’m scared to go out

when it rains, the air hums

the kind of hum you’ll never forget

if you’ve ever been here

digging deep holes in my brain

like on an oil rig

drilling in my skull

extraction of all kinds of minerals

delivering it to the core

it is like an undersea, eternal spring

keeping me alive by its umbilical cord

once found and released

runs smoothly on its own

floating on countless words

metamorphosed

in the stroke

from the dancer’s flared skirt

swirls and serpentines go their own way

as in me when I write down my sorrows

  • The way you swing us from the song of the wind to the whirring & buzzing & drilling of oil rigs to the nourishment of the eternal spring & umbilical cord to the metamorphosis & gentle peace of resolution in the writing down of your sorrows. Wow! This is so effective the way you move us from fear & mourning through agony to come out as something different & new on the other side. Congrats on top story. Well deserved!
