Raindrop Race
the only way to win the race is to carry the most
A raindrop’s only purpose is to fall.
The faster it falls, the faster it can fulfill its purpose.
A raindrop lands on a window and its time slows. It is there with other raindrops that are all trying to fall. The raindrop does the same and it’s a race to the bottom.
It gains speed at some points, and when it slows it picks up smaller drops to weigh it down. It carries more and more and starts to fall faster.
A tapping noise is heard from the left and the raindrop refocuses its gaze to look at the source. There are children on the other side of the glass. They are staring at it as it continues to glide down.
The raindrop refocuses again and it sees others walking by the children — in one door, out another — and it sees light and colour. It refocuses to its side of the glass and it sees fields and trees of green and open space.
It sees other raindrops falling to the ground — fulfilling their purpose.
The raindrop finally sees everything around it and wonders how much it missed on its journey down.
The smaller drops it continues to collect keep on weighing it down — bringing it closer to the ground. It says 'goodbye' to the children as it slides away from the window and onto a wall.
It tries to avoid picking up any excess weight and simply makes its way down, looking at everything it can see.
The ground slowly approaches and the raindrop thinks about how it wants to see more.
