Rain of Ash and Acid

A Poetic Journey Through Nature's Deadly Rain

By Jason “Jay” BenskinPublished about a year ago 1 min read

It fell from skies, a burning stain,

A toxic hiss, the acid rain.

Clouds of steel, bruised and black,

No mercy held, no turning back.

-

Each drop a wound, each splash a scar,

That sears the earth and rots afar.

It eats through stone, corrodes the trees,

Turns rivers foul, poisons seas.

-

The air itself, a choking blight,

No breath escapes the sulfur night.

Flesh peels back, raw and red,

As acid rain marks its dead.

-

Beneath its touch, the cities weep,

Concrete crumbles, shadows seep.

Windows melt in fiery pools,

As nature mocks mankind’s tools.

-

The screams are swift, dissolved away,

In puddles black where bodies lay.

A ghostly mist hangs in the breeze,

Of twisted limbs and burnt-out pleas.

-

Silent streets, scarred and bare,

Where life once thrived, there's none to care.

The acid rain claims all in sight—

No shelter left from endless night.

-

So heed the warning, stay inside,

From skies where unseen terrors bide.

For when it falls, it leaves no trace—

But ash and ruin in its place.

This is a story poem that in a way could introduce a chemistry lesson in a creative way. Good work.
