Rabbit Across from Me

A rabbit sits across from me.

As much as the barfly vaudevillian life

Lies ahead of me.

I welcome both lovingly

All the same.

I see what both

Can offer me at the chime

Of the time

And the change

Of the metronome.

The space

And ambiance

To either breathe

With the moment,

Or to seize

The best it has to offer

And to give my whole self with it.

To be in midst

Of consistent action

And balanced rest.

Perhaps I’m not so different

Than the rabbit that sits across from me...

And that I’ll always keep an eye out for.
