I see you are shuffling in our bed

And restless, eyes barely closed, breathy and heavy chest

You cannot shut out those aching thoughts

I hold you so close to my heart,

Hoping that the stiffness of my undead organs can somehow warm up and give you solace

And give you gentle, rocking peace.

Once you told me you’d love me from afar, and how we could never be,

But I felt it was real,

Right then and there

I knew

We were real.

I could show you love

That is more real and deep and sweet

Than anyone else.

Quinn, are you awake? It’s me, Rebecca

Say my name as I hold you to my heart,

I’ll whisper a secret message to your ear

As you are lulled to a ocean wave perfect sleep.
