Quiddity

Some Mystical Impressions For My Wonderful Muse

I Can't Get Her Out Of My Head

Quiddity describes properties that a particular substance (e.g. a person) shares with others of its kind. It is the name for the mystical dream sea in Clive Barker's novel "The Great and Secret Show" that exists as a higher plane of human existence. It is featured as more of a literal sea in the novel's sequel, Everville.

Quiddity, as it turns out, is visible exactly three times to an ordinary human: The first time we ever sleep outside our mother's womb, the first time we sleep beside the one we truly love and the last time we ever sleep before we die.

I am using the second time that we see Quiddity for a poem for my Muse and I.

Music has to be β€œCan’t Get It Out Of My Head” by The ELO once more

I want to hold you in this mystic sea

My mermaid queen , I’ll hold you close to me

My ocean maid , I love your gentle touch

In our ocean heaven we feel our love

🌊🧜🌊

I feel the water drip from my strong arms

Like my love that flows into you from me

And the love that flows to me from your heart

That means we are together not apart

🌊🧜🌊

In Quiddity we feel our perfect love

We hold, we touch and kiss and our hearts touch

Closer we are every single day

Touching our minds with each word that we say

🌊🧜🌊

I love you my mermaid , my perfect dream

I love that you love me, my ocean queen

And now I won't be able to get either the song or this wonderful poem out of head. And I'm okay with that.
