Purple

i look at her and i see

pink. a cartoon heart eyes, world

melts away all i can see is

her

kind of pink.

but when i see him i am

dizzied by clouds swirling

around my head in a sky that

has never been a more vibrant

blue.

they tell me blue is supposed to be my

favorite color, and i do not understand because

pink is so beautiful and she makes me

feel things i can’t quite grasp. but

she was not made for me, they say. she

needs a blue in her life, too.

he and i, he and she, we dance around to

make a magnificent purple, but i don’t

want to be the pink in this waltz if that

means i can’t bask in the beauty of another

shade of myself.

he is an irresistible wave of

blue and she

is the sweetest shade of pink and i

love them both the same.
