Ptolemaic Parabola

Yeah...poem. Might be a bit angry. Can't believe I've done 950 pieces on Vocal.

By Paul StewartPublished about a year ago Updated about a year ago 1 min read

"My tongue... yes, my tongue

will tell the anger of my heart

or else my heart concealing it

will break"

#

There is a stillness

in me—

a stillness of resignation.

#

But my contentment

can't shield forever

the storm of contempt,

anger in my adrenals,

venom in my veins.

#

Hold back, I wish—

but can't. Hold back!

Carpe diem; crap DM.

Carpal tunnel syndrome,

rotten core system,

like apples left uneaten,

society left unchallenged.

#

Damn.

#

The rivers of rage ravage,

but the well runs dry—

tears from tyranny.

#

"Let grief convert to anger;

blunt not the heart, enrage it"

#

Ptolemaic parable.

Consider Confucius.

Contemplate Christ.

#

If society crumbles—

#

will you

#

ruin it

save it

Thanks for reading!

Author's Notes: This is my 950th story, so why not celebrate with me? Lol! Here's to the next 950 stories and all that! I am being silly, but, come on. Anyway, the real author's notes on this are as follows - I do love taking apart Ptolemy in my uneducated ways ha! and -

More Shakespeare -

"My tongue... yes, my tongue

will tell the anger of my heart

or else my heart concealing it

will break" - Katherine to Hortensio in The Taming of the Shrew

"Let grief convert to anger;

blunt not the heart, enrage it" - Malcolm to Macduff in Macbeth

Woah! Congrats on 950! Really big milestone on the horizon! Really liked the “Carpe diem; crap DM. Carpal tunnel syndrome,” progression tucked in the raging!

LOVE the title to this stream of conscious. And, 'Consider Confucious Contemplate Christ' Line stopped me in my tracks to consider what it meant to me in the moment. Congrats on reaching a staggering 950 pieces, Paul. 😮😮😮🥇
