Prismatic Revelry; For you, Anytime
A poem about being proud of your race and who you love.

Spare me a moment to talk about myself;
I assure you the results will bring a wealth,
A well of understanding, for what I’m planning on
Demonstrating to the minds that might wander here
; And
Spare me a moment to talk about the girl I love
And the colors I feel, it’s quite surreal
For someone who is colorblind.
Now without further ado, I’ll share with you
The feelings of the colors nestled in my mind.
I can’t see well; it’s all the time,
But,
When I see love in the air around me and abound;
I am surrounded, astounded even
That when all else fails, our love prevails.
I can’t see color
Is what the doctors told me,
funky Protanopia, no variations of red nor green..
But
I don’t need colors to see the way you look at me,
How the sun reflects and gleams in the white of your smile;
The white of your teeth.
It surround me, astounds me even, that with you
I’ve never felt so free.
White.
The color of bonds standing against all,
Banding together like the waves that crash and meet at sea.
Blue.
The Hue as soothing and tranquil as the heartbeat of your love.
Orange.
The color I think of, when I think of us. The color of my love,
The color I’ve become;
Tranquil and at peace.
Fire by the moonlight; Embrace by the sunrise.
She is the sun.
I wake to her each morning.
She is the moon;
I bathe in your steely silver warmth at night.
Not even the hate of the world, nor the
Fade of every day,
Would stop me from running back to her,
Full haste, no break pace, to meet my eyes with her eyes
Hazel and grey embrace.
Let’s talk about life, and the spectrums we live,
The joy that different kinds of love have given,
Have gave.
Let’s talk about people, different skin tones and eyes, that
Shade from tan, to marbled, to ebony and ivory;
Eyes that shine like starlight so surprisingly
In hazel, brown, green, and blue by day and night.
All tones, all people, I won’t hide or disguise this,
These words I want to share with you
These words I hope you know are true.
Life is prismatic, in love, in kindness, in respect, in race, in grace.
Not static, don’t care if you won’t stand for or have it;
Red is not a color that is welcome, will tarry, will creep;
That shall reside here.
The color of anger, the color of hatred;the color that reaps what
Is sewn here.
Don’t bring your hatred.
Don’t bring your fear.
Keep your red and guilty hands at home,
Do not creep where me and mine roam
Until you know in your mind that love wins, that love is right.
;
I’ve written for 12 years, the colored warmth and
Love I find, I found in and from others
Pulled me further from that dark and dreary gutter
So long I felt I was stuck in.
No light there, only seeking for where
Its radiance could reside.
But know I find; and I’ll say
For you, and everyone, anyone,
Anytime.
In the orange of the sunrise,
In the pinkish lilac red Sunset Blush of the twilight;
I’ll stand for what is right,
By day, by night.
I’ll pick up my sword, and never give up on
What I’m what we’re all fighting for:
To be seen, to be loved, to dance together in fields of green,
The sun and blue sky above us; untouched, but not unseen,
Free to live, and love as we please,
The air inside our lungs, our bodies running wild and free.
A feeling tranquil and deep blue, as you watch the moon
Dancing on the water; as you dream of this feeling,
Of Nightswimming.
Be proud of the color of your love, of your heart.
Love is love, and love is art.
Be proud of the color of your skin, as a hellenic priestess
I assure you in my eyes you are welcomed, it is no sin.
Your body is a temple, fight for your right to be,
Do not hesitate, do not waver or flee.
Be as you are, as you always were; like
Wildflowers, colorful and free.
For all intents and purposes all but not dashed; Prismatic in our revelry,
Still, I’ll stand
For you, for anyone, anytime.
When you think of race, when you think of love, let your eyes shine like the white, blue, orange, and yellow of the starlight.
