Benighted by her own emotions

Her soul taken through her wallets

Hiding behind temptations

Fears spread to her children

Gifts are not enough

To gain their trust

Take heed now

No more

Lies

Ebb

Away

Their safety

Your peace of mind

Bargains never end

Trouble waits till morning

Child jumps in to take the bills

Their bodies getting gaunt and thin

Buy it even if it does not fit

Pay

The price

Hold the dice

Don’t let it slip

Your mind will weaken

Companies own you even

When you are sleeping, hold on

To reason, not easier said

Than done, there is room for you to run

I agree, the world is made up of dark entities pulling our strings. How do we ditch them and run. Love the message.

A very important message in our days, because children are truly suffering. The main thing they need is love, and everything will come. Well done once again, because you deserve it.

Very sad but excellent creation 🥰

  • This is so emotionally driven and captivating to read. Your use of words captured the feeling of poverty so well; I just felt this woman's pain inside of me. A very wonderful piece, well done!

  • "Child jumps in to take the bills" Gosh that line hit me soooo hard! Your poem was so emotional and poignant. I loved it!

This feels like a critique of the dog-eat-dog capitalism we see everywhere in big companies, and how ultimately it’s the little guy who suffers. “Pay The price Hold the dice”- this makes me think of how much chance plays in our lives too. Thought-provoking Caitlin 👏🏾

Both the image of want and your verse are stark reminders of how our lives are tangled with dreams that are for sale that we would never have dreamed on our own. Our entire culture is bamboozled by gold-plated demons.

Oh yes. We all feel that pull I think. Nicely rendered.

This reminds me of a friend of mine, a single mom who has to balance everything so carefully.
