A Poem

By Arielle IrvinePublished 5 years ago 1 min read

The sky is frozen.

A moment in time

caught by the flash

and click of a camera.

The birds are stuck

forever in that place.

They no longer fly free,

high and far away.

They belong to me now.

They are part of my story.

They are pieces of the puzzle

that is my life.

That moment in time.

The broken tree in the background

hurt and aching from the storm.

White pebbles in the street

so small they make up the grains

of sand that line the concrete.

But millions upon millions of them

do not steal the focus.

The emphasis is on me.

I am the image.

Me.

Broken down, but standing tall.

A woman stronger than the storm
