I stretch towards you like sunflowers reaching for the bright yellow orb in the cerulean sky
My love wraps around your torso and squeezes you tight against my sunburnt flesh
Your lips graze the reddened skin on my cheek then press down harder
We fall to the green and white speckled ground beneath us where my heart thumps in time with yours
I promise to keep it that way, for an eternity if I must
And you promise the same to me
I was born into this world with purpose too great to fully understand
And I was blue in the face, already suffocating from its harsh hues
You were born kicking and screaming, ready to take on everything and everyone
And had yellow and red speckled across your cheeks and nose that made you giggle
We were born years apart and nothing alike yet we came together all the same
Me, in my blue and orange shirt, with holes in my chest and scars on my body
You, in your denim and polo, looking like someone who could fix me
But maybe I had already patched the pieces that could be
And pitched the parts I could, to make room to grow
To give someone a chance to love my broken and beautiful soul
Now all I needed was the one who could plant a seed in my black empty places
Put love and care in to it to spring forth and grow wildly as all things should
So you combined the colors of my past with tones from my future
And filled me with a rainbow to shine upon the world on gray days
