Poetry In A Sandwich Form
Introduced by Calvin London
Author's Note: The first and last stanzas are the same, representing slices of bread. In between are couplets of any format you like or any number of stanzas you like, as if you were making a sandwich. I took the poem format literally.
In mine, there is cheese, ham, pickles, avocado, tomato, lettuce, and mayo; seven couplets altogether, seven ingredients in the sandwich. Love and anything else can be the topic. See below for the challenge by Calvin London
A new form of poetry - 'sandwich poem.':
Open up the pantry and refrigerator
Right now is sandwich-making time
~
First, we wash our hands really good
We bake the bread fresh in the oven
~
Cheese is always in my sandwich
My favorite cheese is Havarti
~
Pickles and avocado are special
They are an extra add-on this time
~
Then we add lettuce and tomato
Always go together on a sandwich
~
And there is mayo, smooth and creamy
The hubby prefers salad dressing

Open up the pantry and refrigerator
Right now is sandwich-making time

Can I have some? I like the idea of avocado. ππ
A cute poem for the challenge. Iβve never heard of Havarti cheese but it sounds yummy!

Mmmm, that seems sooo yummy! I've never had Havarti cheese before though. Loved your poem!
What a poem that also made me hungry. You taught me a new kind of poem as well never heard of a 'sandwich poem'.
