Purple is my favorite color

Is it from being an older

woman? It used to be red

but I’m putting that to bed

Values

Values it is for this week

wisdom is what I seek

truth and honesty shocking

talking and walking

honesty program is my life

truth makes for less strife

love for all is possible now

love for myself is how

bravery is important for me

I’m Bear Clan you see

making it easier to be

especially

when it comes to family

humility is fun to learn about

it means equal to most I shout

no one under and no one above

that is truly self-love

respect for others

my sisters and brothers

when showing respect

we can get more I suspect

Authors note: I took this topic of values from a poem written by Thomas X with the 7 Teachings rap, produced by Keith Secola. I couldn’t load it to paste on here. Not sure why. It is free to listen to. So I posted the Welcome to the Rez instead.

Google Thomas X, hip-hop, and rap. The poem I couldn’t post is about the values of the Anishinabe people. This was the way set up for us to follow to live the good life — The “7 Teachings”. In English, the words are closest to the meaning in the Ojibwe language.

My wife would love that photo of that purple tree. My favorite color is yellow, however, my wife loves all the colors, and our Grandson told her when he was little - Mom Mom - I like all the colors. And she replied - "And that is my Grandson". Well done!!!

  • My favourite colour is red and now I wonder if it'll change to purple as I age. Loved your poems!

I love the picture of the purple tree could that be a very big lilac tree. The poem speaks to me for I believe the big guy in sky has given me his answers. Remember some of those sad articles especially 'Judgment Day' for it seems things are changing for the better for me in a way. That person will see and hear what she has said through her years good and bad on her Judgment Day. Great job.
