when it needs to end

you are a splash of pink in the

vast blueness above

that shouldn't be there

.

your edges fit alongside his

to fill in the gap in the sky

with a little pressure

.

but you're pressed together a little

too tight and you feel you might

bend or be pulled apart

.

and when you take a step back

and look at the bigger picture

you realize it doesn't look quite right

.

the azures and ceruleans and cyans do

blend into the reds and salmons and magentas

but not where you are

.

you thought you fit together so well

and you tried so hard to mold yourself

and he himself

.

but there's only so much you can change

to fit in where you do not belong

when it hurts you more than leaving

.

scrape apart from him, never mind

the discomfort, and fall into

the sea of blushing heavens

.

surround yourself now with rosy pieces that

give you the support he cannot provide

no need for rain to fall

.

you will still make up the sky together

comfortable in your spaces

knowing the same shooting star

.

will still cross your paths

bringing with it a different kind of love

one that easily falls into place
