I.
It jumps upon the couch
And a scream erupts
The spider hops away in fear.
II.
.
Weaving and twirling
In the air
A pattern so intricate
The spider becomes an artist
.
III.
The spider watches from
The corner of the room
As its snacks are crushed
Now useless
By a flying contraption
.
IV.
Eight furry paws tepidly cross
The marble counter
Eight eyes see
What we wish we could
Or are glad we cannot
.
V.
Shiny black
The red hourglass
Shows the passing of time
If only for the Spider.
.
VI.
One night the spider creeps down
And curiously treks across softness
Legs catching on thin strands
An unfamiliar web

I don't know Wallace Stevens but I'm going to seek him/ his work/ her? out. I loved these different aspects of the spider.
What a beautiful poem, I'm afraid of spiders, but I'm fascinated by cobwebs! I think you have done them justice with these verses, they are very intelligent and hard-working beings.
