Pictures Don’t Define Your Entire Life

A free-verse poem about how “pictures on social media” are easy things to make you jealous and compare your life to others

Pictures are only

one aspect

of our lives.

We only show

one part of our tale

for the public to read.

Pictures trick us

into thinking,

"We’re living horribly and poorly".

Pictures give us

red face flashes, tears,

and bruises in our stomachs.

Pictures make people

sugar coat the real truth

they mean to tell us.

Pictures make us think our followers

are fibbing to us on Instagram,

Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and Snapchat.

Pictures are only

one scene of a film

we generate.

It just reveals

the happy events

and not the sad events.

I guess people only post happy moments while sad moments they just used their words instead of posting a picture. Only the news post sad events pictures. Pictures to me are not fake, but I can understand for some it could be if they are force to smile in a picture when they did not feel like smiling.
