Phony Ponies Who Get Hitched

I don’t want to be home

By Rowan Finley Published 3 years ago Updated 6 months ago 1 min read

Attacked on every side

They don’t care how much I’ve cried

Home feels homeless

Heart walks, restless

They fly frantically, the bats

False sympathy pats

Heads and shoulders

And tiny soilders

Tired of fighting

And writing

About love

And of

Disappointments

Or ointments

That don’t work

On things that lurk

In broad daylight

Who fight with words

In the shape of birds

That aren’t spring birds

But are atomic-bomb-birds

As absurd as it sounds

With confusing frowns

I pretend I’m a daisy

That isn’t mad or crazy

That no one ever slandered

Or that ever married

And carried

The disease

And vicious tease

Of phony

Matrimony

    Okay but “atomic-bomb-birds”?? That’s next-level poetic chaos and I love it. 😂
