Peter Pan

.

By SmallbrookPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Peter Pan, take me away to lands unbroken, lands unspoken, lands beyond time.

Peter Pan show me how to fly untethered from the floor.

I'm trapped fast in a land polluted, land corrupted, land of grime,

And I'd like to fly away to something less and something more.

Peter Pan how come you so easy in, so easy out, so easy free?

Peter Pan have you found the secret of forever?

I have dreams on dreams stuck in soil like planted tree,

And I'd like to use your axe, my twisted roots to sever.

Peter Pan, I wonder if there is a cost, a price, a debt to never die.

Peter Pan when you chopped your roots did it hurt at all?

Silently you flew and whispered in my ear to dare to try.

In greed, I grab the sharpened steel, but something bid me stall.

Peter Pan you showed me visions of my dreams romancing,

Peter Pan, I have chosen your forever, no delay.

I'm swinging down when at your face I chance a glancing,

And the axe falls to the ground - forever it will stay.

Peter Pan I saw it in your stare.

Peter Pan it left as quickly as it came, but it was there.

I'm seeing that your life is one long day of seeking something, just like I am,

And you are tethered to the prison of desire just like me.

And no one in themselves is really free.
